Dr. Stephen Updegraff, medical director of Updegraff Vision, is a world-class LASIK and refractive surgeon.

Dr. Updegraff has been a pioneer in LASIK surgery for nearly 20 years, when he served as a member of a team of ophthalmologists studying and perfecting the procedure. He then went on perform the third LASIK surgery in the United States and the first in Asia, and has earned five patents for LASIK as well as two for microsurgery of the eye. In fact, there are several “Updegraff LASIK” tools he developed that still carry his name.

Since establishing Updegraff Vision in 1996, Dr. Stephen Updegraff has remained dedicated to providing the highest level of care in LASIK and refractive surgery – that’s why he performs every LASIK surgery in his state-of-the-art LASIK suites, using only the best technology available. Every LASIK surgery Dr. Updegraff performs is “bladefree”, all-laser LASIK, since its technologies are proven to provide the safest and most accurate results. The LASIK experience with Dr. Stephen Updegraff also includes a complimentary LASIK consultation, which many of our patients have described as the best, most thorough eye exam they’ve had in their lives. In order for Dr. Updegraff to determine whether you are a LAISK candidate, we will use a Pentacam corneal mapping computer to create a 3-D topography of the surface of your eye, and will also measure your corneal thickness. Additionally, Dr. Updegraff will dilate your eyes with cycloplegic dilation, and examine them both before and after the dilation. On the day of your LASIK consultation with Dr. Updegraff, you should expect to be at Updegraff Vision for between 1.5 and 2 hours.

In addition to your LASIK surgery and consultation, your LASIK experience with Dr. Stephen Updegraff also includes all of your post-operative visits, which you will attend in gradually decreasing intervals for one year. If Dr. Updegraff determines that you need any pre-operative medicines, these will also be included as a part of the LASIK experience at Updegraff Vision.
